Yellow Pages is finally wising up to the amount of waste their giant phonebooks cause and are now allowing consumers to cancel delivery via a new opt-out website. HALLELUJAH! Love, Nik
So, I know terrariums are hot these days. What’s next, wearable plants? Saw these planters by Colleen Jordan on Fab this AM and just had to share. (There are even little planters for your bike, hah!) Not sure I’d wear a plant around my neck, but it’s definitely a unique idea. Love, Nik
I’m really digging this new program called Halfsies. Starting this spring they are launching pilot programs at restaurants around the country where you can choose a specified menu item and receive a half-portion.
Not only will you control portion sizes and combat food waste, but by paying full price for the plate the proceeds are distributed to organizations worldwide to help battle hunger. Hoping it rolls out to SF soon! Love, Nik
Hey Bay Area friends! A friend of mine (and Lillie’s) works for a small organic farm in Watsonville, CA and is starting up a weekly produce box – like a CSA - that will be delivered to SF for only $20/week! Sounds like a killer deal to me!
If you’re in the SF area, definitely check this out! You’ll receive ‘recipe ideas, fresh farm news and get to try a wide variety of the produce that our coastal location allows us to grow year round.’ (They’re especially known for their strawberries, tomatoes and greens but grow a number of other seasonal veggies, too.) Delivery starts in March and you can read more about it - or order yours - here. Love, Nik
First of all, I just discovered the blog “Make Under My Life” and I’m loving it! Lots of great tips on how to “design a life with intention.”
One of the blogger’s latest posts is about trying to “Throw Out 100 Things” and I’m totally going to take on this challenge. She encourages you to pass on, donate, recycle or toss out things that are not getting used. I just donated a giant bag to the CP Foundation this morning and I know we have tons of other stuff that is not getting any love in our apt. One of my goals for 2012 is to make more intentional purchases and I think this challenge will help.
Love, Nik
