I spotted this photo by Jill Thomas on Pinterest this morning and it makes me just want to play hooky and stay in bed all day long. (This is actually on my bucket list - I need to make this happen!) Love, Nik
So, let me tell you a little secret: I want to be this girl. Look how chic and put together she looks, just cruising around town! I plan to start this transformation by getting myself a nice, classic navy blazer. The question is - where does one procure one of these in the middle of summer? (Where in SF, by the way, it’s TOTALLY appropriate to wear long sleeves, unlike the rest of the country.)
I know J.Crew is a good stand-by such classic pieces… any other thoughts? I’m new to the blazer game and would love any insights on where to look! Love, Nik
This photo from J.McLaughlin Summer ‘12 is totally making me nostalgic for lazy summer days. (Plus, I’m digging her jewelry + dress.) Love, Nik
In case you were wondering, here are the right and wrong ways to kiss, circa 1942.
NOTE: “Sprawling all over the chair is considered ungraceful, bad technique.” Dang! ;) Love, Nik
Looking back at May makes me long for lazy days at the beach and fabulous weekends with friends. Cheers to a fun month and hoping June brings more of the same! Love, Nik
To continue re: the news from earlier, I just saw this photo that Barack’s team posted to Instagram and had to share. (Sorry for bringing politics onto LWS, just couldn’t resist!) Love, Nik
Good lord, I need to get myself to Yosemite, STAT! This timelapse by Shawn Reeder is amazing. Look at those stars! Love, Nik
What would happen if Pinterest and Instagram had a baby? Well, two guys from Silicon Valley found out and made Pinstagram. It’s another way to enjoy your Instagram feed on the web - check it out! Love, Nik
It’s May already?! Man, oh man. April was definitely one for the books for me. Work was at an all-time ‘crazy,’ but thankfully we got to get out of dodge at the end of the month and sneak in a bit of R&R in Sea Ranch, CA and Seattle. But, I still have a lot of catch-up to play in order to kick off a new month with my head above water. Gulp. Bring it on, May!
How was your April, ladies? Love, Nik
After a week of dreary, rainy days, the sun finally came out and it felt like Spring again in SF! I wish I had a cute cruiser like this PUBLIC bike to just take lazy Sunday rides around the Bay. How fabulous does she look? Love, Nik
Well, March is officially over and I thought I’d continue my random trend of posting monthly recaps of the past 30-odd days that I captured on Instagram. (The site Instagrid just makes it too easy to take a screen shot, so I figure why not?)
My past month was a whirlwind of cramming at work, rainy days, back-to-back birthday celebrations and ridiculous trips to the ER. (Sigh.) As always, looking forward to the next 30 days! Love, Nik
This interview with photographer Sarah Wilson about her series on prom at the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired is really sweet. ~LP
I remember last year overhearing a conversation a couple was having as they were reuniting before prom. She grabbed his hand and ran his fingers along the sequins of her dress, to the curls in her hair, and to the strand of pearls around her neck. His response was an exuberant, “Wow, you look so beautiful!” I know that she felt beautiful.
