The 'Busy' Trap

I just read this article from The New York Times about the trap we impose on ourselves and each other: you know, the “busy” trap.

I am totally guilty of constantly declaring how busy I am and could absolutely do a better job of cutting back and/or filling the time with things I enjoy doing more. As the author concludes, “Life is too short to be busy.” Definitely something I need to work on. Thought it was a good opinion piece and food for thought! Love, Nik

'Plug In Better': A Manifesto

‘Unplugging’ has definitely been at the top of my mind lately as sometimes I just want to turn of all of the screens in my life and escape from it all. This article from The Atlantic is interesting and talks about how literally unplugging isn’t always feasible, but we can all benefit from learning to “plug in better.”

Whether it’s unplugging from distractions, conquering FOMO (something I’ve definitely battled over the years and I think have successfully reduced its effect), information overload (hello aspirational inbox zero and endless RIL list) or whatnot, we can all do a better job of focusing on what matters most and unplugging from the rest. Why You Should Quit the Internet

Nate & I just booked a two week trip where our #1 goal is to stay off the grid. I know it’s nothing ground-breaking like walking an 800km pilgrimage like this dude, but I haven’t been so excited for something like this in… well… ages. This is an interesting read on why it can be good to unplug. Now, I just have to figure out what my actual “quest” is.
