I spotted this photo by Jill Thomas on Pinterest this morning and it makes me just want to play hooky and stay in bed all day long. (This is actually on my bucket list - I need to make this happen!) Love, Nik

28 by 29 List

I think we’re all big fans of Bucket Lists here at LWS, so I just had to share this “28 by 29" list by Wit & Whistle. Unlike my ambitious (and half-completed) “12 by 2012” last fall, I feel like her list is manageable and realistic. Years ago a friend and I each created a “100 Things to do by 30” list but I am scared to revisit it, knowing there is no way I am getting half of them done. I like “30 by 30,” though! I think I’m going to take a hard look at my goals and carve out 30 good ones I can accomplish over the next 3 years. Love, Nik

So, I got to looking at my 12 By 2012 Bucket List and got a little anxious. 2012 is coming up at rapid speed and at the rate I’m going, I know for a fact that I won’t get to cross all 12 of those items off my list before the year is up.
As the week is coming to a close, I wanted to pause for a moment and reflect on some of the things that I HAVE accomplished recently. I think what this “12 By 2012” exercise taught me is that I need to be better about setting realistic goals… or making sure I celebrate seemingly small accomplishments in life so I don’t get all bent out of shape whenever I look at my master Bucket List and think “My god, when am I EVER going to do all of these things?!” Because let’s face it. We’re all busy girls and despite what we may think, we all get a LOT of things done but don’t always give ourselves credit.
So, without further ado, I may not be able to cross them off of my bucket list, but here is a short “I DID IT!" list to make sure I celebrate some of the things I have been able to complete recently:
Posting Wedding Photos to Facebook: My trifecta of families had been bugging me to no end to post photos of the wedding, and although it took me over 2.5 months and I sacrificed sleep for it earlier this week, it feels really good to have that off my plate.
Got My Wedding Dress Dry Cleaned: Again, it took me almost 2 months to drag myself down the 1.5 blocks to the dry cleaners, but considering my priorities lately, I consider this a win. (Plus, I got a much better deal than I was expecting!)
Cleaned Up the Living Room: Okay, so my decision to buy a new, smaller desk for the ‘home office’ area of our living room may have been a hasty one during a quick weekend trip to Target, but this small piece of furniture has completely transformed the look and feel of our tiny space. (It’s predecessor was an unwieldy, too-big IKEA desk that never quite fit in and made seating semi-awkward.) We’d been putting this off for months thinking we’d sort it out when (if?) we moved to another apt but it feels great to just have it out of the way.
Started Christmas Shopping: So, I can’t cross this off completely yet and I haven’t exactly made loads of progress (bought 1 gift), but I wasn’t expecting to be able to even begin thinking about this until the last minute this year, so I’m happy to have at least gotten something done! :)
What have you girls gotten off of your plate lately? Love, Nik

Hey LWS ladies! So I threw together a super bare-bones “Bucket List" page for us during lunch today. Amanda had the great idea of adding a tab so we can all keep track of our individual bucket lists. (May be a good way to hold each other accountable?!) The graphics/layout/etc. can all be updated later - I just put something there as a placeholder so we can get started.
You can get to it by clicking “Customize” when you’re logged in, scrolling down to “Pages,” and selecting “Edit” next to the Bucket Lists page. It’s not the nicest way to access a page, but hopefully it’ll do for now? Let me know if you like this idea and feel free to update/change it as you please!

This has been at the top of my Bucket List for so long, I have GOT to get there. I’m thinking Machu Picchu 2012, no excuses. Anyone with me? Love, Nik
